Flooring from China – buyer’s guide
Rigid-core SPC vinyl, laminate and engineered wood flooring for export are produced in Guangdong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang; Foshan-area factories and their showrooms cover the whole range, and we combine flooring with tiles and doors in the same container.
Product families
- SPC (stone plastic composite) – rigid vinyl click planks, 4–6.5 mm with 0.3–0.7 mm wear layer, IXPE pad attached. Waterproof, the default for apartments, rentals and coastal homes.
- LVT / dryback vinyl – glue-down, 2–3 mm, for commercial spaces.
- Laminate – HDF core with décor paper, AC3 to AC5 abrasion class, 8–12 mm. Very good value in dry climates.
- Engineered wood – 2–4 mm oak or walnut veneer on plywood or HDF, 12–15 mm, plank or herringbone.
- Solid wood, bamboo and outdoor WPC decking.
Specifications that matter
For SPC: wear layer thickness (0.5 mm for homes, 0.7 mm for commercial), core density, the click system (Unilin or Välinge licence means the joints hold), and formaldehyde/VOC certification (FloorScore is the usual export requirement). For laminate: AC rating, HDF density (≥850 kg/m³), swelling test and E1/E0 formaldehyde class. For engineered wood: veneer thickness, plywood grade, finish (UV lacquer or oil) and moisture content matched to your climate.

MOQ and colours
Factories stock 20–40 standard décors; you can mix 3–6 colours in a container from stock at 300–500 m² each. Custom décor papers or embossing need 2,000–5,000 m². Matching skirting, stair noses and T-mouldings are available in the same décor – order them together.
Packing and shipping
SPC is dense: about 8–10 kg/m² at 5.5 mm, so a 20ft container holds ~1,800–2,200 m² by weight. Laminate is lighter and volume-limited. Cartons are palletised and film-wrapped; keep flooring out of the bottom layer under tiles. Acclimatise 48 hours on site before laying.

- Formaldehyde / VOC certification for your market (FloorScore, E1, CE)
- Décor names with sealed samples; batch consistency across cartons
- Accessories (skirting, transitions, underlay) in matching décor
- 5–7% extra for cutting waste; palletised packing
- Inspection: measurement of thickness and wear layer, joint fit test on random cartons
