Paint & Coatings from China – buyer’s guide
Guangdong’s coatings industry – Shunde in Foshan, Zhongshan and Guangzhou – supplies emulsion and exterior paints, texture and real-stone coatings, waterproofing slurries and membranes, epoxy and polyurethane floor systems. Paint is bulky and regulated, so it suits importers and larger projects more than single villas.
Product families
- Interior emulsion – matt, eggshell and washable; low-VOC lines meet EU and US limits.
- Exterior acrylic and elastomeric – UV-stable, crack-bridging paints for concrete and render.
- Texture and real-stone coatings – sprayed stone-effect finishes that replace granite cladding at a fraction of the cost.
- Waterproofing – polymer-cement slurries (JS), acrylic membranes, polyurethane liquid membranes, SBS sheet membranes.
- Floor coatings – epoxy self-levelling, polyurethane, garage and warehouse systems.

What to specify
Solids by volume (higher means better coverage), VOC content (g/L), scrub resistance cycles for interior paint, and QUV / weathering hours for exterior. Ask for the technical data sheet (TDS) and material safety data sheet (MSDS) – you will need the MSDS for shipping, as some products are classified as dangerous goods. Colours are tinted at the factory from your RAL or NCS references, or supplied as base + tinter for local tinting.

Packing, shelf life and shipping
Paint ships in 5, 18 and 20 L pails on pallets; shelf life is 12–24 months, so plan orders for one season. Water-based paints are not hazardous; solvent-based products, epoxies and PU need DG declaration and cost more to ship. Protect from freezing in transit and storage.
