Hardware & Fittings from China – buyer’s guide
Foshan (Nanhai) and neighbouring Zhongshan (Xiaolan) make most of China’s architectural hardware: door locks and lever handles, hinges, sliding and folding door systems, smart locks and bathroom accessories. It is the last thing buyers think about and the first thing they touch every day, so we specify it carefully.
Product families
- Door hardware – mortise locks and cylinders (Euro profile, ANSI, oval), lever handles on rose or plate, pull handles, door closers, floor springs, stoppers.
- Hinges – stainless 304 ball-bearing butt hinges, concealed 3D-adjustable hinges, pivot systems.
- Sliding and folding systems – barn door rails, top-hung sliding kits, pocket door frames, bi-fold hardware.
- Smart locks – fingerprint / code / card / app; check the mortise standard and your local Wi-Fi/Bluetooth certifications.
- Bathroom accessories and cabinet hardware (handles, knobs, hinges, runners).
Materials and finishes
Zinc alloy is fine for handles and decorative parts; locks, hinges and anything load-bearing should be stainless 304 (316 in coastal areas) or solid brass. Finishes: satin stainless, PVD (the durable way to get black, gold or bronze), electroplated (cheaper, shorter life outdoors), powder coat. Ask for the salt-spray test hours (≥96 h for interior, ≥240 h for exterior).
Standards
Lock cases follow either the European (DIN / EN 12209, 72 mm centres, Euro cylinder) or the American (ANSI/BHMA, 2-3/4″ backset, cylindrical locks) tradition. State which one your doors are prepared for. Fire-rated doors need certified hardware – buy the tested set, not components.

MOQ and packing
Stock finishes are available in small quantities; PVD in a custom colour needs 300–500 sets. Hardware is packed in individual boxes with screws and templates; for projects we ask the factory to label boxes by door number. It ships as a filler in any container.

- Material (SS304/316, brass, zinc) and finish with salt-spray hours
- Hinge load rating and quantity per door leaf
- Fire-rated sets bought as certified kits, with certificates
- Screws, templates and installation instructions included; boxes labelled by door
- Spare cylinders keyed alike / master-keyed as required
